Zahedi Date is one of Iran’s prominent date varieties, also known as 'Qasab' in certain regions. This fruit has an elongated oval shape with a narrow, pointed tip. Throughout its ripening stages, its color transitions from yellow in the Kharak stage to light brown in the Rutab stage, and finally to a reddish-brown or pale yellow hue when fully ripe.
Recognized for its high quality, Zahedi Date is ideal for storage and transportation, making it a popular export product. It belongs to the dry date category, is a late-ripening variety, and has a high fruit drop rate. This date is cultivated in several regions, including Qir and Karzin, Farashband, Jahrom, Dashtestan, Kazerun, Khisht (Fars Province), Firouzabad, Lar, Ahvaz, Khorramshahr, and Qasr-e Shirin, as well as in Iraq and the United States.
Harvesting begins in late September and can extend into early autumn. The quality of Zahedi Dates depends on factors such as flesh thickness, growing region, and harvesting conditions. The finest Zahedi Dates have a chocolate-brown color. This variety does not require refrigeration and can be stored for at least one year, making it an excellent choice for both domestic and international markets.
